As a result of this growth, the business is now seeking a Supply Chain Director to optimise its supply chain to help the company meet its ambitious growth targets.  This is a new role which dovetails with a major investment in new technology and a new website.  Reports include a Supply Chain Manager, along with a staff of 10, and the Head of Customer Services, along with a staff of 7.

 

The Role

The primary role will be (i) to optimise the company’s current operational footprint (establish, monitor and manage KPIs)  (ii) to contribute to the definition of new processes as part of the technology overhaul (iii) to negotiate and manage third party warehouse and logistics providers internationally and (iv) to ensure that the company has the operational capacity to scale up significantly (increasing the size of the business by 3-5 times).

 

  • He/she will be responsible for working with the CEO and his team to develop a global supply chain strategy and to execute that strategy in support of the company growth plan.
  • He/she will be responsible for defining and establishing goals, performance metrics, and management processes in driving continuous improvement across the Supply Chain, including: Warehousing, Transportation, Quality, Customer Service
  • He/she will negotiate contracts and manage relationships with strategic 3PL(s).
  • He/she will develop and manage a supplier scorecard program as it relates to supply chain, including but not limited to on-time delivery, supplier issues, customer issues, backlogs.
  • He/she will implement strategic initiatives with an emphasis on continuous improvement including system improvements to improve overall planning performance and reporting
  • He/she will leverage supply chain techniques and analytics to enable and support fact-based decision making and  develop and implement policies and procedures to maintain service levels that meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • He/she will work with the Head of Sales to understand customer segment needs and establish policies to meet/exceed customer delivery requirements
  • He/she will provide leadership and build a team into an effective, cross-functional, collaborative, and proactive team that meets or exceeds company goals year over year

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

This is an exciting opportunity for a supply chain professional to really make a difference to achieving the global commercial objectives of the business. Reporting to the CEO, this new position will take full responsibility for delivering supply chain improvement at every level, from supplier/inventory management through to working with third party warehouse and logistics providers to deliver efficiency and customer service improvement. As a key player in the UK management team, you will be responsible for defining the strategic direction of the supply chain operations whilst also ensuring the day to day achievement of the supply chain deliverables/operational efficiencies.Your operational supply chain experience will be a given, ideally gained within a world class supply chain environment. You will be motivated by delivering continuous improvement and will be able to demonstrate a proven track record in delivering change. A strong team leader, you will have experience in your field at an international level and possibly be ready for your first “number one” role.

A commercially minded graduate, professionally qualified, you will be highly numerate and able to demonstrate a strong financial background within an operational context.

Experience 

  • Successful senior supply chain operations experience in a company recognized for supply chain performance.
  • Prior consulting experience implementing “best in class” supply chain or operational strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement operational improvement initiatives that are sustainable and provide measurable bottom line impact

Education 

 

  • University BA/BSc or higher
  • 10+ years of experience in supply chain or related function.
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and an ERP System.
